U.S. and China foreign ministers hold phone call discussing win-win cooperation, peaceful coexistence

WASHINGTON DC, Jan 24 (RTSG) – Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, held a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio early today discussing the future of Sino-American relations going forward into the second Trump presidency.

Wang Yi emphasized the consensus reached between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump in a phone call earlier this week, saying that the two leaders have agreed to maintain positive relations with each other and that U.S.-China cooperation can solve many problems in the world.

“The leadership of the Communist Party of China is the choice of the Chinese people, China’s development has a clear historical logic and a strong endogenous driving force, and the goal is to let the people live a better life and make greater contributions to the world.”

Wang Yi pointed out that the two heads of state have set the tone for future China-U.S. relations, stating that the two superpowers must maintain communication, manage differences, expand cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations, and find the right way for China and the United States to get along in the new era.

Marco Rubio said that the U.S. and China are two great and powerful countries that must work together as the most powerful bilaterial partnership on the globe that will shape the future of the world. He also reemphasized America’s commitment to the One China Policy after Wang stressed that Taiwan has been an integral part of China for hundreds of years and that Beijing will never allow China to be divided.

Wang Yi also stated that “the leadership of the Communist Party of China is the choice of the Chinese people, China’s development has a clear historical logic and a strong endogenous driving force, and the goal is to let the people live a better life and make greater contributions to the world.”

The two agreed that their countries should focus primarily on common development and that the two should work together to safeguard world prosperity.
